Sharers in the Promise

The Gentiles have become fellow heirs, members of the same body, and sharers in the promise…. — Ephesians 3:6.

The verse from Ephesians 3:6 beautifully highlights the radical inclusion of Gentiles into God’s plan of salvation. It emphasizes that we, who were once excluded from the promises made to Abraham and his descendants, are now fully embraced as fellow heirs, part of the same spiritual body, and equal participants in the divine blessings, but we weren’t the first to attend the dance.

It’s crucial to remember our own history as outsiders. The exclusivity and judgmentalism that sometimes creeps into Christian discourse can be a dangerous distortion of the gospel. Christianity, while offering a profound and life-transforming relationship with God, cannot claim to be the sole path to salvation.

It’s important to cultivate humility, compassion, and a genuine desire to understand and connect with people from diverse backgrounds. By embracing the message of inclusion and recognizing the inherent dignity of all human beings, we can move towards a more just and loving world.
