Somewhere in the Bible it says “the truth shall set you free.” Maybe my readers can remind me where. Most of us grew up with George Washington and the Cherry tree. Isn’t it fascinating to contemplate a President who “Cannot tell a lie.”
Maybe its my age, maybe its a result of watching last night’s debate, and maybe its this age of need for immediate information, but it seems to me truth-telling seems to be a lost virtue. Too many purported leaders believe we cannot handle the truth.
Consequences follow from the truth, why not fudge of offer a different view, especially if one avoids the consequences of the truth? I’d say there is a lot of that reasoning going around a lot these days.
There are always at least two witnesses to the truth — God and oneself. Neither are easily fooled.
Consider whether its in your meditation, the beginning of one’s day, or the starting of a whole new project with the phrase — “Let’s begin with the truth.” Perhaps it will become contagious.
