Are you carrying weights placed upon you by yourself or others?
There are different schools of thought in weight-lifting. Some say to take a lighter weight and do multiple repetitions. Others suggest lifting the maximum weight possible one or two times. Then of course there are many variations on what is best depending on one’s goals.
The same is true for the burdens placed upon us by life. Some would say remove all burdens placed by others. Some would say, “why place burdens on yourself, don’t you have enough already?” All questions have validity, but removing burdens is easier said than done. Burdens come with the territory of being in a community.
My friend Vernon’s grandmother told him, “The good Lord never gives you a load you can’t tote.” Good advice.
When it comes to expectations (burdens) only take on those you can carry, and remember always to find time to “rest in the Lord.” He always finds a way to lighten your load.
