Do I not destroy my enemies when I make them my friends? — A. Lincoln
Our current culture seems obsessed with enemies — both overseas and at home. We look to cast blame and find fault instead of seeking reconciliation and common ground.
We forget that confrontation is about reconciliation and awareness, not judgment or anger.
Perhaps we begin by losing our feelings of both superiority and inferiority, and becoming aware that each of us has hurt the other, and each of us has been hurt.
Perhaps we lose our obsession with enemies, when we realize the universal truth that God loves us, but he also loves them.
