We are impatient of being on the way to something unknown, something new… Give Our Lord the benefit of believing that his hand is leading you, and accept the anxiety of feeling yourself in suspense and incomplete.” — French priest, Teilhard de Chardin
If you are like me the image of being impatient rings true, especially when it feels like nothing good is happening. I find myself saying, “When am I ever going to catch a break.”
Yet, if time has taught me anything it is I am on God’s schedule time and agenda, not my own.
I am like a child who is being taken on an “adventure” by his/her grandparents. The child is not satisfied with not knowing what the adventure is and “when are we going to get there.”
Sometime the recipients’ lack of patience and anxiety spoils the fun of the journey. Thank goodness where I am impatient, God is patient with me.
Over and over we hear the words, “give X the benefit of the doubt.” Sometimes that is good advice and sometimes it is not.
But, one thing is certain and that is God has earned the right to the benefit of the doubt, and the slow work of God produces miraculous results.
