A natural tendency as we get older is to harden and become cynical. We lose our youthful optimism and hope.
It reminds me of the opening scene in one of my favorite movie, The Big Chill, where the preacher laments, “Where Did Hope Go?”
Yet if we look around, if we are aware, we see examples where people can indeed forgive, share, be reconciled, and make and be at peace.
Unlimited potential for good is a seed planted in each and every one of us, over time we simply forget or get too busy to nurture our internal garden.
I think one of the best ways to nurture our potential is to get out and about with other people.
Other people bring out the best in us in many ways. Other people renew our hope and love for humanity.
When you sense an inclination to withdraw, resist the inclination, and seek hope in every place you go.
Hope didn’t go anywhere, it just gets buried on occasion.
