I thought of a famous Buddhist Saying when I read one of my favorite comic strips this morning Pearls before Swine, by Stephan Pastis:
I have been insulted! I have been hurt! I have been beaten! I have been robbed! Anger does not cease in those who harbour this sort of thought.
I have been insulted! I have been hurt! I have been beaten! I have been robbed! Anger ceases in those who do not harbour this sort of thought.
No I don’t believe like Rat that life is like an aggressive dog, I choose to believe that life is full of joy, and its best not to attack tough breaks but to let them go. The very best of football coaches never dwell on the bad calls, bounces, or breaks, but constantly remind their players and fans that football, like life, has its ups and downs and its best never to dwell on the bad.
My friend Jim Cathcart says: “live fully, you cheat yourself out of the joy of being alive and you deny the rest of us your potential contributions” if you don’t.
So this weekend don’t dwell on the “tough breaks” life throws at you, but instead do something you love.
What you love reveals the value you bring to the world. Make room for it. — Jim Cathcart
