Guard well within yourself that treasure, Kindness. Know how to give without hesitation, how to lose without regret, how to acquire without meanness. — George Sand.
A golf coach tells his pupil that the grip on the golf club should be like holding a bird in one’s hands, carefully — not too tight and not too loose.
When do you lose your grip on human kindness? I thought about this during my morning meditation — when my daily routine is upset, when I am under stress, when I didn’t get a good night’s sleep, or when I’m angry. I must be careful to avoid the precursors to losing my treasure — kindness.
Think about it. When I haven’t had time to process pain, betrayal, or unkindness from someone else, time has taught me to walk away. Do not judge or try to change someone but learn to walk away from someone who will cause you to lose your treasure.
Kindness is not a sign of weakness, but of strength. You can be kind without giving up power.
Be kind no matter what others do, and when you can’t be kind keep a grip on your treasure until you can be kind again.

It is NOT an act of kindness if you expect something in return.
