“Even bad fortune is fickle. Perhaps it will come, perhaps not; in the meantime it is not. So look forward to better things.” — Seneca.
Imagine all the time we would have on our hands if we stopped worrying about the misfortune that was about to occur. Instead of worrying about the future we followed Seneca’s advice to “look forward to better things.”
I spent some time this morning on Seneca’s wisdom, “Perhaps it will come, perhaps not; in the meantime it is not,” especially the wisdom, “in the meantime it is not.” All my worries about the future are just that, but they are not her yet and may never arrive.
Seneca’s potion for life does a lot for depression. Take a healthy swallow and see if things don’t immediately feel a lot better.
