We are on day six of rain here in Charlotte, and I’m not sure when it will end. The old nursery rhyme comes to my mind as I look out my window and meditate.
The problem with rain, rain, and more rain is one is inclined to get depressed. To add to my woes I picked up this month’s copy of the magazine, The Sun, only to discover that this month’s theme is addiction. Even the page of quotes would depress the happiest person I know.
It would be easy to follow suit and write about addiction to objects and misery, but I surprise the urge. Instead I’m reminded that February showers bring March madness, spring baseball, daffodils and dogwoods, and my favorite the scent of honeysuckle. A friend calls and suggests a Friday lunch, I invite my grandchildren to breakfast tomorrow morning, and look across the room at my Advanced Reading Copies of my next novel,The East End .
Addiction and depression spiral us downward. When we feel their pull apply a little physics. Start to spin in the opposite direction. Soon you are spiraling upward toward the sun.
Can’t wait to read The East End, Webb! All of your Jack Patterson novels are suspenseful and entertaining!
Thank you Carolyn. I really think you are going to love “The East End.” Lots of suspense and local places to go visit. W.
