The hard thing about following Jesus during his time is the example he set.
One set of potential followers couldn’t understand why he associated with lepers, went to dinner with sinners, and refused at times to follow the Sabbath or other laws of his religion. The other side wanted him to be a revolutionary in the traditional sense. They wanted him to condemn Caesar, topple the governmental structure of Judea, and become a political leader. One side wanted him to do something dramatic, while the other side didn’t like with whom he associated.
He introduced a third way. He said stand with me, and when we stand with him and the untouchables in our society we diminish untouchability to stand.
A good question to ask ourselves during Lent is where do we stand?
Editors Note: I apologize for not posting this week. I was traveling this week. I also had to deal with an issue I never could imagine could occur to a small spiritual blog. I have on a regular basis been posting pictures or other images on this site to help you see who I am quoting or to enhance your understanding. I do this by looking up an individual or an image on Google and transferring it to this post. Google makes it very easy to do this. Recently, I received a letter from a lawyer saying I had posted a copyrighted picture and asking for money for his alleged client. I explained that the image didn’t show a copyright symbol, and I immediately took down the image. That wasn’t good enough. They said since I have a button on my website asking for donations, I was using their alleged client’s image to make money. The end result is that I can’t afford a lawyer to fight their demands. The cost of defense is much much greater than what they want. The Internet says this is another way people take advantage of small people, but there is not much anyone can do. The lawyers don’t go after Google because they have the assets to fight. Oh well, lesson learned. Have a good day. I’m back in the saddle again.
Damn Lawyers!!!
I have two lawyer daughters so I can’t generalize. Certain lawyers in California are on my naughty list. Webb.
I am sorry this has happened.
Thanks, Expensive lesson learned. W.
