We say that the Lenten season is a time of prayer, fasting, meditation, etc. The time for forgiveness has no season. Anytime is the right time to forgive or be forgiven. When somebody you have wronged forgives, you are relieved of the nagging pang of guilt that permeates your entire being.
When you forgive, somebody who has wronged you, you are relieved of the inner corrosion of wounded pride and bitterness.
For both, forgiveness means an internal peace and harmony, while externally being comfortable in each other’s presence. This is true even if the forgiven and the forgiver are one and the same.
