So they went, and entered the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab, and spent the night there. — Joshua 2:1.
I don’t know anyone named Rahab, but she is one of the true heroes in the Bible and Jewish history. She is also listed by Matthew as one of Jesus’s ancestors. Yet once again, God calls on the most unlikely to fulfill his/her purpose. One of the least of the least, but not in the eyes of God or history.
I take heart in her story, for I am reminded that status and worldly station are insignificant to God. What is important is a willingness to serve and to show kindness, not what society labels.
Can you elaborate on what she did? She is referenced, but what did she do that was remarkable? What’s her story?
