This Meaningful World

Do we not know the feeling that overtakes us when we are in the presence of a particular person and, roughly translates as, The fact that this person exists in the world at all, this alone makes this world, and a life in it, meaningful.  – Victor Frankel.

I certainly know the feeling Frankel describes. I feel that way about Suzy and all my family. I also have many friends that bring this emotion.

I just re read Bill Bryson’s, A Short History of Nearly Everything. It is full of amazing facts and the history of this planet, but of all of the amazing facts about this world is we exist at all. And to take it further that individuals like Suzy, my family, and my friends do indeed make life “meaningful.”

This Monday as horrible news continues to dominate all forms of the media, I switched gears and used my meditation time to think of all the people in this world who make my life meaningful. I may tire of the news, but I never tire of the meaningful world that surrounds me. Thank you all.
