Be The First To Throw The Stone

Let anyone among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her. — John 8:7

I watched the NFL Playoffs last night so I stayed up late. I wasn’t worried, because today is a holiday and I could sleep in. How wrong was I?
I was rousted early this morning by the obnoxious noise of two leaf blowers. Who could be so rude? I’m old enough to remember that one could be stoned for mowing one’s lawn before nine in the morning.
I wish the city would ban leaf blowers, and allow leaf burning like they did in my grandparent’s day. One of the great smells of the fall is burning leaves, sadly, my grandchildren will never experience that joy.
Back to my rude neighbor, it turns out that neighbor was me, or should I say the lawn service our condo association uses, who were up at it early waking my neighborhood and me. It reminded me of the old adage when you point a finger, three are pointing at you.
It is in our nature to accuse and condemn our neighbors, and so Christ uses a wonderful example to remind us to fight the urge to condemn, like democrats vote — early and often.
It is easy to throw stones, but it is our duty not to throw stones, but like Christ encourage certain behavior be modified — injustice to be righted.
Now I must go, I need to make a phone call to the lawn service and apologize to our neighbors.
