Finishing The Work

I glorified you on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do, John 17:4.

A long time ago and very far away, I played football and on occasion in the fourth quarter someone would say in the huddle , “let’s finish the work we came here to do!”
I suspect similar words are said on battlefields or other sports venues every day.
As we get older there is an inclination to shut down or to say, “I’ve done my part, I’ll coast until the end.”
But sitting out the fourth quarter isn’t an option for many of us. We need to finish the work we were given to do.
During your morning meditation and prayers ask yourself, “Have I finished the work God gave me to do,” and if the answer is no, then we are called to:
Finish God’s work, with courage, grace, and style.
