Inspired By Love And Guided By Knowledge

The good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge. — Bertrand Russell

Pretty simple don’t you say, but like my grandmother used to say, “Easier said than done.”

First of all, we tend to equate romantic love whenever we hear the word love, but I don’t think that’s what Russell had in mind. Love is much more than physical attraction. Ask any individual who is in a long term relationship that respects each other’s values and dreams. Love is not limited to one individual or thing. It is an attitude of respect and care for all individuals and God’s creations.

Knowledge too is not so simple as making pie crusts. It includes a willingness to be open to new discoveries and change of opinion.

A good life may be inspired by love and guided by knowledge as Russell says, but it is full of mistakes that add to add to knowledge and enables us to recognize true love. It takes work and constant attention, but is worth it.
