Lent Will Be Here Before You Know It

Lent almost snuck up on me. Besides writing a meditation for forty days during Lent, I want to really celebrate Lent this year. So a little thought and preparation is necessary. I have to think about the four tenants of Lent — sacrifice, worship, silence/meditation, and service.

I remember the year I was on sabbatical and talking to my friends Razor and Breeze about what we were going to sacrifice. On sabbatical there isn’t much left to give up, but we each came up with something and helped  each other “hold the line.” In some ways , it was one of the most magical Lenten seasons I ever spent.

I think this year I want to revisit the magic of Lent. I know some people think of Lent as a depressing time, but not if it’s done right. This season consider finding magic in your sacrifice, service, worship, and silence. You might surprise yourself.
