Whom We Love

Who we are and who we become depends, in part, on whom we love. — “A General Theory of Love.”

Although technically Lent is a couple of days away, I thought the above quote is a fitting beginning to the Lenten Season, and a wonderful morning meditation — Whom do you love?

This morning I thought of the obvious answers — family and certain friends, but as my eyes remained closed and my breathing became steadier my mind began to go deeper. What is the linkage between who I want to become have with whom I love. As I begin the Lenten discipline and try to become a better person, how do the people I love fit in to my discipline?

Love thy neighbor as thyself. A good beginning to our Lent.
