The Nature of God

I read recently that a preacher was claiming the coronavirus is a result of God being angry at us. I won’t dignify the preacher further by telling why he thinks God is angry at us. What I will say is that the preacher doesn’t have a clue about the nature of God. God is about love, comfort, and compassion. The preacher’s God doesn’t exist except to further the preacher’s own views and agenda.

Although overcast, my morning walk was filled with sights of spring flowers, budding trees, and beautiful green grass. Despite the virus people were outside walking their dogs or pushing their kids in strollers and they all had smiles on their faces and greeted me with good mornings.

Lent and this opportunity is a time to better know the nature of God through prayer and meditation. The sacrifices we are all making  are teaching us invaluable lessons about doing with less and caring for our neighbors. Use this time to get better acquainted with God and to learn his/her true nature. When you do, you will understand why I know the preacher is full of it.
