Feed My Sheep

Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.”

Most commentators agree that Jesus was telling Peter to do more than simply give the followers of Christ three squares. He expected Peter to care for his followers much like a shepherd tends to his flock — leading them to food, water, and away from danger.

The call to Peter has been passed down through the ages to all the followers of Christ not just clergy. If we love God, we are asked to “feed my sheep.”

During this virus pandemic the words of Jesus hit home. We are not only called to stay in place and wear masks, we are asked to feed our neighbors. To make sure all are given food, shelter, medical attention, and all the care we would give ourselves.

Every time we don our masks, stay separate, contribute to food banks and homeless shelters we are responding to Jesus’s question to Peter — “Do you love me” with a resounding yes!
