The man answered, “Here is an astonishing thing! You do not know where he comes from, and yet he opened my eyes.” — John 9:30.
Have you ever had a total stranger do something nice for you? Have you ever done a total stranger a favor? It is indeed an astonishing thing!
I’ve always been a big fan of anonymous gifts, but I’ve been on a lot of charitable boards and understand the need to give recognition for gifts. Yet, it still blows me away when “good news” comes from an unlikely or anonymous source. There are many human interest stories where someone is given a great gift from a stranger. My liver transplant is one of those stories. It is indeed an astonishing thing!
During Covid we hear of many acts of unbelievable kindness and sacrifice by total strangers. When I hear such stories I see the hand of God. It is an astonishing thing!
Now here’s the question I must ask myself as each of you should do the same: What can I do for someone else, perhaps a total stranger? I don’t know the answer yet, but I do know if I do it — It will be an astonishing thing!
