Saturday after Ash Wednesday

The place to be happy is here, The time to be happy is here. The way to be happy is to make others so. — Robert Ingersoll

I think Lent is a difficult time to talk about happiness, but a necessary discussion. I think the quote comes from the movie, The Big Chill, –”I don’t know many happy people. How do they act?” As we meditate these 40 days, one focus should be on the parts and times of our lives that brought us happiness. Was it when we sailed a boat, wrote a symphony, educated a child, played a game, or grew a garden? It is in happiness we find God. In Eden he invited Adam to “walk with him.” In these times of stress, pressure, and never enough time; we forgot how to be happy. We forgot that happiness is here and now. We stopped walking with God. Lent is a time to find happiness once again.
