Wednesday in the Second Week of Lent

Are you not thirsty” said the Lion.
I’m dying of thirst, said Jill
Then drink, said the Lion. – The Silver Chair- C.S. Lewis

Jill fears that if she becomes vulnerable by drinking the water she will be consumed by the Lion. During this Lent we are called to examine our own fears and vulnerabilities. What prevents us from our relationship with God. Is it public ridicule? Is it a fear of losing control? Do we deny ourselves the soothing presence of God because we fear being consumed by an unknown. Meditate on your fear this Lenten Season. Meditate on why we ask God like Jill asks the Lion to go away.

Jill ultimately says she must find another stream because her fears will not allow her to drink. The Lion responds, “ There is no other stream.” There is no other God that can satisfy our thirst as well.
