Walls and Ladders

A man while on his journey came upon a wall, a very high and solid wall. There was a tall rope ladder lying against the wall. He took of his pack containing all his belongings, and he pulled himself up the ladder run by rung, finally reaching the top near exhaustion. When he was able to see, he realized he had been climbing the wrong wall. He had had exhausted himself climbing , but didn’t know what he was climbing for. He had reached the top only to find everything essential had been left far behind, and the only thing he had achieved was a goal set by others. He also realized that to obtain what he truly needed required him to climb down from this lofty perch.
