Inner Calm

If I was asked to choose the one personal trait I most admire, at the top of my list would be courage. There are certainly different examples and kinds of courage, but again at the top of my list would be the type of courage described by Hemingway: “Courage is grace under pressure.” I bet you know someone who epitomizes this description – someone who possesses such an inner calm that it comforts all he/she is around. Someone who by their mere presence brings you peace. Your voice lowers in volume and your heart slows when you’re in his/her presence.

There is a song that begins, “Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.” When we are at peace, when we possess an inner calm, our presence has a soothing effect on all we touch. A child prays for peace on earth, let us each begin by seeking peace in our hearts.
