Depression

We all get depressed, but some deal with it better than others. There are degrees of depression, and I am never one to counsel just get over it or not to seek professional help if it becomes overwhelming. But there is one truth about depression where even the professionals agree – Depression is not a state of trust.

For that degree of depression that you might call a mood swing or a funk, remember you cannot trust without joy. Look into your restlessness, find the cause, begin with joy and then trust. Trust in God, become conscious of resting in God, and you will sense the restlessness fading away. This is not imaginary. You even begin to wonder how you ever could be restless.

Spiritual consciousness does satisfy, does rest. Help is always at hand when we trust.
