Tuesday In the Third Week of Lent

Today marks the twenty-first day of Lent. You have followed your discipline either religiously or maybe not-so-religiously but either way you’re having a hard time telling any difference. It’s like going on a diet, not getting on a scale, and after three weeks you can’t tell any difference. Yet, someone who hasn’t seen you in those three weeks sees you and exclaims, “Wow, you’ve lost a lot of weight.”

Lent is a time when we learn to celebrate that small changes make all the difference. Even the miracle of healing and love happen so slowly that we forget to notice the great difference that has occurred in our lives. Lent is also a time to meditate on the small changes that have made a difference in your life, and ask what small changes might you make beginning today that could change everything?
