Awareness

“Only that day dawns to which we are awake” – Thoreau, Walden.

Some believe that in order to cultivate awareness you must take a walk in the woods or meditate in a forest. But awareness can be cultivated in the middle of a city. In fact, we need to look for it wherever we live and work. When Thoreau speaks of “awakening” he means being present in the moment. Few of us have the luxury of having all our moments in the woods or on a beach.

Take a moment this day to soak in your surroundings wherever you may be. Notice all that is going on with “fresh eyes, ears, and nose.” Feel God’s spirit.
