On Time

Not so in haste, my heart;

Have faith in God, and wait;

Although he linger long,

He never comes too late. – Anon

When we suffer (and we all do at one time or the other, in different degrees, and some more than others) we call on God, but many times he doesn’t immediately respond. I guess he hasn’t learned to text or tweet yet. But whatever state we may be in, he never fails to respond, just it may not be when or how we had hoped or prayed. Because he lingers is not a reason to fail to believe or lose hope, any more than when we are called on by God and we are slow to respond. Would it be right for God to give up on us if we “linger long.” The Bible is full of “heroes’ would didn’t jump to their feet at that first call – Moses is a fine example, and how about Peter and that annoying cock who kept crowing?

So when you suffer, remain in peace; for peace is the divine order, and take heart — God “never comes too late.”
