Bear Hug

Within Thy circling arms we lie,

Oh God! In Thy infinity:

Our souls in quiet shall abide,

Beset with love on every side. – Anon.

 Is there anything more reassuring or comforting than a big bear hug from someone you love. The image of resting in God’s arms brings a smile to my face and understanding to my heart. In Deuteronomy we are reminded that, The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. – Deut. 33:27. No thought of God is closer than the image of being wrapped in comfort and warmth with his everlasting arms.

No human tenderness is greater than that which gathers in its arms a little child, and holds on, heedless of weariness.  God fills the earth and all upon it, with the unseen force of a comforting bear hug and unconditional love, so that everywhere and everyone may be comforted.
