Burdens

He doth Himself our burdens bear,

He doth for us take care,

And He, our God, knows all our weary days. – B. Schmolck

I have written before about a good friend’s grandmother chastising him when he was feeling sorry for himself. She said, “Son, the good Lord never gives you a load, you can’t tote.” Wisdom teaches us that when we are overwhelmed by life’s burdens to look for God’s hand. Seeing God in everything will make us loving and patient even with those who annoy and trouble us. They soon become only his instruments for teaching us patience and forgiveness.

When the load seems too heavy to tote, prepare your heart and soul for God’s imprint. Wipe them clean like a chalkboard of all murmuring and rebellion, and wisdom will imprint on your heart and soul God’s message of love, and the load will instantly be lifted.
