Be at Peace

Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at Peace. – Job 22:21

Perhaps this weekend you will sit down and make a few New Year’s resolutions? What will be at the top of your list – A diet, getting in shape, keeping better records, staying within a budget, etc. ? My list could go around the block, but Job reminds me what should be at the top of my list for 2014 – Get acquainted with God.

How special are those moments when our soul retires from the world to be alone with God. God’s voice is all around us, and he speaks directly to us if only we would listen. This new year don’t let the din of the world or the tumult of your heart, deafen your ears and soul to God. Instead learn to commune with Him in stillness, and He will be with you.

A great step and direct path to God is to meditate, and with a silent hush turn the eyes of your mind inward. As you wait on wisdom, a divine voice will arise and speak directly to your heart.

Editor’s Note: The Hubbell Pew will be on sabbatical next week. We will be back January 6, 2014.
