Search Your Heart

If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea: even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. Psalms 139:9,10.

How do we know when we are being led by God? By a careful examination of self, and abiding within the confines of your own soul. Be at home in your own heart, and cease from your restless chase of and search after outward things. Look into your own heart, ask your own soul, and you will see and hear what there is to do. Surrender yourself to the gentle nudges of God and follow them wherever they lead. Whether it be to contemplation or action, to usefulness or enjoyment, whether in sorrow or joy, follow on. And if you don’t feel the hand of God, still go out with love for your neighbor, press forward against injustice, and you can’t go wrong.
