Spirit Of Loving Kindness

Live this life

And do whatever is done

In a spirit of loving kindness

The first part of the First Rule seems so easy. I watched my daughter engage with her three daughters last night and it was an example of doing everything with a spirit of loving kindness. If we want to be understand loving kindness all we have to do is watch a parent with a child of young age. But we also know that the spirit of loving kindness can be tested when children grow older and develop a spirit and attitude of their own much like life tests us daily.

A spirit of loving kindness is tested every day by the realities of life. People don’t necessarily always respond with loving kindness and events test our resolve every hour. Yet, other people and events are often beyond our control, a spirit of loving kindness is in our control no matter what confronts us.

This morning take a minute or two to begin the day doing whatever you do in a spirit of loving kindness. If later in the day the spirit leaves you, remember we can “Always Begin Again.”
