Third Sunday In Lent

Prayer is one of the disciplines of Lent that is the easiest to put of until tomorrow, until we have put it off for months and even years.
When I am out talking about my book, When Men Betray, I usually ask the group, “Do any of you have a friend that you can go weeks, months, or years without seeing, but when you do get together it’s like it was a moment ago. You pick up the friendship like it was yesterday?” Everyone answers, “Yes!”
Prayer is a conversation with God, and like the occurrence I describe above, God is standing ready to pick back up the relationship for the asking. Lent is a time to renew our relationship with God through prayer, through a conversation that is available anytime, anywhere.
The problem is it is too easy to put off that phone call to God. Yet, once again isn’t that conversation just the elixir you want and need.
Our relationship with God is the most important one we can ever have. Don’t short change yourself by putting of a conversation with him/her. When you begin it will seem like the last conversation was “only a moment ago.”
