I’d bet you have a favorite movie that no matter how many times you’ve seen it you’d watch it again. Probably the same goes for a song, a scene in a play or sporting event.
I used to carry in my wallet a prayer called St. Merton’s prayer that I would pull out on occasion. I have other friends who do the same with different prayers or quotes.
When we study for a course or test, we are encouraged to type or write out a key phrase or formula, or at least underline them in a book.
I think for all of these reasons I’m so fascinated by Danny’s Bible and all of the inserts, markings, and typed out poems, quotes, and verses.
For her, those typed our prayers, verses, and quotes were not just meant to be stuck in her Bible, but they were meant to be learned, memorized, and carried with her as part of her everyday.
What we carry with ourselves everyday, not just physically but close to our heart, are very much who we are.
