Tuesday In the Third Week of Lent

“If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail.” — Abraham Manslov
I have had lots of experiences with bullies. I think part of their problem is the only tool they have is to be a bully. No one taught them compassion, unconditional love, or self-esteem, so the only tool they have when confronted with something new is to resort to being a bully. It becomes so much a part of them its the only way they know how to respond.
Bullies could use a healthy dose of Lent, for the lenten discipline of prayer, meditation, fasting, and service gives us new and wonderful tools — humility, empathy, silence, compassion, conversation, self-sacrifice, etc.
Bullies are difficult to deal with, but God will always give us the right tools to respond to bullying. We need only ask.
