Thursday After Ash Wednesday — 2018 — Echo

From past experience it bothers me to learn that those innocent devices such as the Echo sold by Amazon are always on and listening to your household. Law enforcement loves them, and should you ever receive a search warrant be assured your child’s Echo Dot will be at the top of the list of a search warrant. Law enforcement has the capability to down load everything you’ve said or done within listening distance. You’ve been warned.

But what does an Echo have to do with Lent or spirituality. Well God may not be able to play the theme song from Frozen over and over again like my granddaughter’s Echo Dot, but God is always on ready to listen to our needs and desires. He is always available for a chat twenty-four hours a day.

Besides there are some distinct advantages. So far no-one has figured out how to subpoena God. That is unless you believe those  Oh, God movies. God also has a unique ability to take what we say we need and make it into what we really need. Now when Amazon starts pulling that off, it really may be Rapture time.

I hope today’s attempt at humor doesn’t offend. This morning’s Post came to me when one of my breakfast club friends said he told Alexa last night. And when Alexa responded his wife said, “Oh my Gosh, she speaks nicer to you than I do.”
