In golf, one’s coach tells you to visualize your swing and the path of the ball before you step up to the tee. Basketball coaches use the same method to help basketball players tune out the crowd before shooting a free throw.
Mira offers a wonderful “swing thought” before we engage in our morning’s meditation. Imagine sitting so still and tuning out everything so you can hear the blood flowing through your veins.
Even more wonderful is imagining getting to a place where you are entering a world that is so vast it is the source of all of us. Early mornings on mountain tops or empty beaches often bring me to such a place. What brings you to that place? It is worth the journey.
Stillness is difficult to find in our hectic world but it is more profound than ever. It is the only state in which we can be fully in touch with ourselves and find peace, balance and self-love. After l to Bishop Curry at the wedding today I hope we can discover Dr. King’s second coming of fire-the love Jesus taught us can be the fire that saves us.
