Not At The Top Of My Game

Sometimes I get down. No, I’m not talking about depression, just not at the top of my game. We all have our own set of remedies for the blues. It can be as simple as a bowl of ice cream or fist full of oatmeal raisin cookies. Another solution is to watch an old sappy movie or read an old favorite book for the umpteenth time. Fortunately the multiple channels, Amazon, and Netflix make sappy movie watching a lot easier these days.

I am escaping from reality I know that, but don’t we all need to escape from reality from time to time? Even Presidents need to escape every now and then. That’s why they have a movie theater in the White House and a refrigerator in the residence that can be raided any time of day.

Parents of young children think they never get any down time and they don’t most of the time, but every now and then a weekend away or a night out will help no end.

I wonder if God needs a break every now and then. The Hebrew scriptures say he rested on the seventh day, but I’ve never heard if God on occasion doesn’t need a godlike version of a bowl of ice cream or a sappy movie every once in a while. I also wonder what constitutes a “bowl of ice cream” to God. Is it watching a few of his more fun creations such as otters at play?

Reality is always there when we get back to it, but thank God for those moments away.
