Pass The Torch

This weekend my juices were charged by two articles I read. One was about California, and how lack of vision, planning, and care have created a place to live that may become uninhabitable in the next decade. The second article was the fact that North America has lost over three Billion birds in the last decade. That’s right, over three Billion birds have disappeared from our continent. Now I’m not an alarmist, but the articles reminded me of a conversation I had with my daughter where she said politely but forcibly that it was time for my generation to pass the torch and to quit trying to hold onto power. (A statement with which I happen to agree.).

God charged the human race to care for all his creatures and the planet itself and if we lack the desire and more importantly the will to do it, we should stand aside. When people ask me who I support for positions of leadership locally or nationally, I am more and more inclined to say that I support a person who has vision to see beyond the immediate. I hope he or she appears soon.
