Shall we receive the good at the hand of God, and not receive the bad? — Job 2:10.
Job poses the question that humankind has been asking since the earliest days. It is posed in a million different ways such as why do bad things happen to good people?
Don’t we all wish we had the answer? I certainly do, but the point of the Book of Job and a million other people who have tried to answer the question is that only God knows the answer, and he/she isn’t giving the answer away.
What I can tell you is that sometimes what seems to be bad or terrible, may not be what we thought. A lost job may lead to a better one. A messy divorce may be the beginning of a new and better relationship, financial ruin may teach the hollowness of materiality. Even death brings us back to God’s comfort.
We don’t have the answer, but like a great magic trick we don’t need to know how its done to enjoy it. All life has its joys and sorrows. It is up to us to enjoy the good, and find the good in the bad. Have a great weekend.
Oh so true… and well said, Webb. The most impactful and important lessons I’ve ever learned came through some of my most challenging, frightening, and seemingly negative experiences. Be safe, dear friend. Tom
