New Day, New Year

Today is the first Monday in a new month and the new year — a true fresh beginning. How do you begin? Are you like the first day of school, with new books, notebook, and attitude? Are you bogged down in the past and gloomy about the future? Are you somewhere in between?

I do my best to think about today is a fresh start, much like we begin each day after confession, contrition, and God’s forgiveness. We are a clean slate.

This morning the slate is also clean. Not one single thing in our past can be changed, but like the blackboard that God erases and encourages us with a new and wonderful future, we have the opportunity to begin anew. Ask yourself this morning that if I could begin totally anew what would I do first, and then do it.

It’s a new day, new month, and new year.

  1. This driving back and forth to GA to vote is killing me. Should have just moved!
All good points – I like new beginnings and this day and time certainly call for one.
    Thanks.
