Lenten Season Is Upon Us

That’s right Shrove Tuesday is tomorrow so you better get the pancake batter ready and if you are giving up some food group like chocolate or oatmeal cookies, it is better to have your last bite, forty days is a long time even if you celebrate Feast days. This year I’m down to the wire in deciding about the other prongs of a Lenten discipline — prayer/meditation, study, and service. I usually by now have a book about faith or prayer I want to read and study and i definitely have a good idea about service. Any ideas? Don’t be shy!

However you decide to honor Lent as Luis would say, “It’s good enough for God.”It’s also up to you whether you share what you are doing or not. Lenten season will be very different this year. Last year most of us had not even heard of COVID, and we certainly didn’t have a clue how it would affect every one of our lives. This year COVID is everywhere and all we hear about, much like a bad and annoying relative. Might I suggest you talk to God about COVID’s presence, and how you go about honoring Lent in spite of its steady drumbeat.

Godspeed you all.
