Teach Me

Make me know your ways, O Lord: Teach me your paths, lead me in your truth and teach me… Psalm 25:4-5.

As adults, we sometime believe we are beyond needing a teacher, but here is David asking God to teach him not once, but twice. The above verses are a good introduction to Lent. Instead of deciding on our own what we are going to sacrifice and how we are going to serve our neighbor, perhaps we should repeat David’s words over and over in a centering type prayer. We worship God, we ask God’s forgiveness, and yes, we even question God, but it is easy to forget to ask God these simple words — “Teach Me.”

Try it early on during Lent. You might be blown away with what you learn.
