Time For A Walk

They heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden at the time of the evening breeze. — Genesis 3:8.

Readers of the Pew know the above is one of my favorite images, and that in a sense Lent is a forty day walk with God. People walked a lot more in biblical days, so naturally there are lot of images of walking with God and Jesus in biblical texts. But just because you now drive a Tesla doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t enjoy the pleasure of a daily walk with God. He/she has a lot to tell us, and is also a welcoming ear for what we have to say. God wants to know our questions.

I have a bad knee(one has already been replaced) and my ankles aren’t so hot (Football is not good for the joints in old age), but when I slow down and God matches my pace. We have lots of images of God, but one of my favorite is that God is my “companion” on a forty day journey. He/she never utters a harsh word, judges, or gets testy.

God is the perfect companion. Time for a walk.
