Create Windows

If the house of the world is dark, love will find a way to create windows. – The Analects of Rumi.

My dear friend Tom, the Sufi master, turned me on to the poetry and wisdom of Rumi years ago. I came across the above recently. If we ever needed evidence of the truth of Rumi’s words above it was the last year of Covid. Amongst all the horror, tragedy, and inconvenience the virus heaped upon us, we saw through windows of love every day — young helping the elderly, health care workers going above and beyond, and big businesses learning the value of their people.

As we emerge from the darkness our world still needs windows. The question we must each ask is how do I create a window, then act on the answer.
