Great Things

And you, do you seek great things for yourself? — Jeremiah 45:5.

“Why do you seek the gold?” A question that has a lot of significance during the Olympic games, but also has a lot significance in every day life. Do you seek great things and why?

We spend a lot of time seeking, but too little time asking why. We are quick to judge the motives behind great acts of charity or philanthropy, but slow to analyze why we “seek great things” for ourselves or others.

Perhaps we should spend a moment asking why Jesus and the prophets suggest we give anonymously, we don’t swear to any oath, and we walk humbly with God.
