What’s In It For Me

Now the son of Paul’s sister heard about the ambush; so he went and gained entrance to the barracks and told Paul. — Acts 23:16.

I missed this verse somehow when I read Acts previously. We don’t know the nephew’s name but can imagine that he risked his own life to warn Paul. He is is one of those many in human history who performed an heroic act and changed history, but we don’t even know anything about him or her.

We only know what the nephew’s reaction was when he heard about the ambush. Acts only tells us what he did no matter the danger. We know nothing more about the young man.

God calls on us from time to time, will we follow the nephew’s example or want to know what is in it for us? What do you think God expects? What should we do?
